Get you aadhaar card linked with Atal Pension Yojana (APJ), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima (PMSBY), PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJJY) with the benefit of linking bank account and aadhar card under these schemes
The Budget 2015-16 has brought about many new changes which are in the interests of the common man. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has started three new social security schemes for the common man while announcing the Budget. These have been created so that India can be more aware of insurance policies and pension plans. These are the Atal Pension Yojana (APY), the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJJY).
The Atal Pension Yojana aims to be the first scheme that will provide pensions to people post retirement. A person can get Rs 1000/2000/3000/4000 per month after he turns 60. The exact premium to be paid each year will depend on the pension amount subscribed to. For example, if you need a pension of Rs 3000 per month, you will have to pay Rs 347 per month for 30 years.
The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana provides risk coverage of Rs 2 lakhs in case of death of the policy holder. This policy is available only at a premium of Rs 330 per year and can be availed by anyone in the age group of 18-50. Finally, the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana provides the risk coverage of Rs 2 lakhs in case of death or Rs 1 lakh in case of disability of the policy holder. This is also a very low cost policy, available only for Rs 12 per year.
Role of Bank Account
All these 3 schemes will commence from 1st June, 2015 and subscribers will have to renew it every year by the month of June for that particular year. To apply for these low cost schemes, it is necessary to have a bank account, which is preferably linked to your aadhaar card. The premiums that have to be paid will be auto-debited from your bank account every year.
It is very easy to subscribe for these schemes. All that you have to do is go to your saving bank account’s branch, fill one form for each scheme and submit the forms to the bank. That’s all there is to it!
Role of Aadhaar Card
Aadhaar card plays a very important role for these three schemes to work. Although aadhaar card is not a compulsory document while subscribing for them, it will be mandatory to show aadhaar card to receive the benefits. This is done so that financial leakage can be stopped and people won’t be able to take undue advantage of government schemes.
Aadhaar card contains biometric data in terms of finger prints and eye scans of a person. So, making a fake aadhaar card is not possible. Hence, government money will not get wasted and it will reach the actual people who will need the benefits or have subscribed for it.
Also, using separate bank accounts and creating many subscriptions for the three yojanas will not be possible. This is because only that bank account which is linked to Aadhaar card will be considered and the insured amount will be transferred to that bank account only.
Aadhaar card makes it impossible to cheat the system; hence it is a must-have document especially for getting the benefits from the three schemes. It is a good start by the government to provide even the poor people with proper insurance.
